All About Delta Delta Delta

Delta Delta Delta, also known as Tri Delta is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Tri Delta encourages it's members to always be themselves while part of something larger than themselves! Delta Delta Delta members value serving others. They are also dedicated to helping women live, lead and learn for a lifetime.

Delta Delta Delta History

While there were already three women's groups at Boston University in 1888, the 2 Tri Delta founders felt a need for a different group that would "be kind alike to all and think more of the girl’s inner self and character than of her personal appearance." from tridelta.org

The founders, Sarah Ida Shaw and Eleanor Dorcas Pond set the framework of this organization and created it's rituals and symbols. They also wrote the constitution and designed the emblems. This was all finished on the night before Thanksgiving 1888, when they declared "Tri Delta is founded."

Delta Delta Delta celebrates it's Founder's Day on November 27th!

What is Delta Delta Delta's Philanthropy?

Tri Delta's national philanthropy is St. Jude's Research Hospital. St. Jude's is a very well-known research facility in the United States, where they do not charge their patients anything for their stay so they can focus on treatment and getting better. Throughout their partnership, Delta Delta Delta has raised over $84 million to support St. Jude's in their efforts to find cures and save children!

Many Tri Delta collegiate chapters host philanthropy events throughout the year to support these philanthropic efforts. Some of these events include Delta Dodgeball, D-Hop and Delta Desserts, where all the money raised goes directly to St. Jude's Research Hospital. These efforts do not stop after graduation. Tri Delta alumnae chapters support local and regional children's hospitals and pediatric cancer initiatives across the country. They also partner with St. Jude's Walk/Run and Memphis Marathon by making teams, raising funds and volunteering to support the non-profit.

Delta Delta Delta Chapters

Tri Delta has initiated over 330,000 women since it's founding in 1888. There are about 139 active collegiate chapters of Tri Delta and over 231 alumnae chapters worldwide!
